Rachel Ward's stunning feature film directorial debut Beautiful Kate stars Ben Mendelsohn, Bryan Brown, Rachel Griffiths and new comer Sophie Lowe in an evocative and enthralling love story.

Adapted from Newtown Thornberg's novel of the same name, Ward relocated the setting from the novel's base of Idaho to the majestic Flinders Ranges in remote South Australia.

Set in a forbidding landscape on a homestead in Wilpena Pount, Beautiful Kate is the story of Ned Kendall (Ben Mendelsohn), his relationship as a teenager with his twin sister Kate (Sophie Lowe), and the emotional aftermath of a series of tragic events which unfold when he is sixteen.
